Food Services at Georgian Bay General Hospital
The Foodservices department at Georgian Bay Hospital has two areas of operation; at the Midland site and at the Penetanguishene site. Each site offers Personal Choice Dining Room Service to patients. This service is unique where by the patients are able to phone from their room to the Foodservice department the day prior to order their meals. Each site has a call centre staff member that is available to take the meal orders. For those patients who are unable to call the kitchen, a call centre staff member will visit them in their room to go over the menu and take the order. The menus are all computerized and the kitchen staff input the order into a touch screen tablet as the patient orders. At our acute care site in Midland, the menu is on a one-week rotation and at our Penetanguishene site where the patient's length of stay is typically longer, we offer a three-week menu rotation.
We also offer cafeteria service at both the Midland and Penetanguishene sites for morning break and lunch meal service. The cafeterias are closed for the supper meal and on weekends. The cafeteria is available for use even though no service is offered.
GBGH has a Registered Dietitian on staff to assess patient's needs that may require clinical nutrition assessment or intervention.
